Longer wait times expected in June at Motor Vehicle offices (2025)

Through June, Weld County residents should expect longer wait times at the Motor Vehicle offices while staff are trained on a new computer system.

In a news release announcing the training, Weld County Clerk and Recorder Carly Koppes urged residents to renew vehicle registration early if possible to avoid delays. Renewals requiring an emissions test should be taken care of 48 hours in advance of renewing online. Drivers can also renew by mail or using the smartphone app, Gov2Go. Those with a registration nearing expiration can print a temporary renewal receipt if renewing online or on the app.

Those who still must make an in-person visit to the Motor Vehicle office in June are encouraged to schedule appointments online at www.weldmotorvehicle.com.

All Colorado Motor Vehicle offices will close Aug. 1-3 for the installation of the new computer systems.
